I’m Lyndsie Clark, a professional editor, copyeditor, and book coach with a Master’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Colorado and a Professional Editing certification from UC Berkeley Extension. Over the past several years, I’ve helped authors refine manuscripts through developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading, with a particular focus on fiction.
As both a self-published science fiction author and a member of Machines of the Infinite Press, an author-driven publishing collective, I understand the publishing journey from draft to finished book. My role as an editor is to be both precise and supportive—sharpening clarity, strengthening voice, and polishing every page so your words shine.

Rates
Developmental Editing
In-depth feedback on structure, pacing, character arcs, and theme plus an editorial letter.
$50-70/hr OR $0.03-$0.06/word for book-length projects -whichever is less
Copyediting
Corrects grammar, usage, and flow while improving clarity and style. Three levels: light, medium and heavy.
Light: $40–45/hr (or $0.02–$0.03/word)
Medium: $50/hr (or $0.03–$0.04/word)
Heavy: $55–60/hr (or $0.04–$0.05/word)
Proofreading
Final polish for typos, punctuation, and formatting errors. This should be the Final Edit of your work, and thus it will also be the lowest rate.

Book Coaching
Ongoing guidance through your drafting and revision process. Includes help with plot, characters, worldbuilding, theme, message etc.
- $50–65/hr (depending on involvement

Manuscript Evaluation (aka Professional “Beta Reading”)
$25–35/hr (if giving detailed notes)
OR flat rate: $50–200 per manuscript (50–100K words).
Copywriting for Short Pieces
Artist Bios: $50–100 each (up to 2 pages, polished + professional)
Press Releases: $100–200 each (standard 1-page release, tailored for media pickup)
Blog Posts/Short Articles: $100–250 (up to 3,000 words)
(Can also bundle rates for multiple pieces.)
Workshops & Presentations
$100–200 per hour-long workshop
$300–500 for half-day sessions (3–4 hours, with handouts/exercises)
$500–1,200 for full-day sessions (custom curriculum, interactive activities)
Topics may include fiction writing, worldbuilding, self-publishing, or editing basics. Rates can vary depending on prep time, materials, and travel if in-person.
